Chardonnay, Is There Any Other?

One of the most popular white wines is Chardonnay. It is a white grape found all over the world. Depending on the processing methods that are used the flavor, aroma, and taste will vary greatly. There are so many different varieties, styles, and flavors available all over the world. Because of its popularity it has spread all over throughout Europe and other locations from Australia to California.

As Chardonnay wine became more and more popular over time, the wine makers began to spread out all over the world. White grapes grow quite well in South Africa and other areas as well. Since this is a light to non aroma type wine, oak does work well with it. Some of the richest and most complex however are the American and French Chardonnays. These are also the most preferred of all the types available. Unfortunately, it does suffer from a fatigue over time, however the flavor and richness of this wine helps to keep it adorned for years to come.

Actually, Chardonnay has originated from Burgundy and Champagne section of France. Another wine that is very popular that has to be prepared with Aligote, which is a lesser known grape, is white Burgundy. However, white Burgundy cannot be made without the use of the Chardonnay grape. This is another reason why Chardonnay grapes are so popular and versatile.

Chardonnay grapes actually appear in green in color with very thin skins. This grape is actually the results of a Pinot Croatian Blanc grape mixture. Both of those grapes are extinct now to this day. However, Chardonnay is still very popular because of the fermentation process of being aged in oak barrels and this helps bring out the vanillas flavor that Chardonnay is so very well known for. There is a process of aging the grapes in bottles, however this does not work as well as it does for red wines.

Most Chardonnay wines need to be chilled to make them the flavors come out. Also, Chardonnay wines work very well with dishes that contain a lot of butter and cheeses. This wine has a lower acid content, so they go very well with seafood meals too. There are many more dishes and foods that work well with Chardonnay wines, which is another reason why this is such a popular choice for many people. Chardonnay wines can almost always be found in Italian and seafood restaurants because of their ability to compliment the foods so well.

Chardonnay grapes are also used to make Champagne and other types of sparkling wines. Making this a very useful and versatile wine. Chardonnay wine is one of the most popular wines in use and there are several other uses for the grape that have lead to many other truly fine wines. Again, oak is used with this wine at times and can provide a very unique flavor as it ages. Even though Chardonnay wines can be a bit more expensive than other wines, it is still preferred over others. It can be found at any wine or liqueur store, always making it a wonderful addition to any wine or drink collection.
